Geology – from earth to jewel

Your experience begins with a theoretical introduction of about an hour devoted to jade. You will discover the different types of jade, their main characteristics and the key elements that help you recognise and identify them.

You will then set off on a geological expedition into nature with an expert geologist, who will explain how to look for stones in their natural setting, observe their surroundings and spot the clues that help you recognise them in the field.

The next day, you will continue in the workshop alongside a lapidary. You will learn to work your rough stone and cut it into a cabochon, discovering the steps needed to reveal its material, colour and lustre.

Finally, you will be introduced to stone setting in order to mount your jade on a pendant.

At the end of the workshop, you will leave with your own creation: a pendant set with the stone you found, selected, cut and worked yourself, together with a complete understanding of the stone’s journey, from its natural setting to the finished jewel.
